Immerse yourself in a powerful and deeply spiritual program that explores themes of renewal, unity, and the human connection to something greater than ourselves.
At its core is David Maslanka’s Symphony No. 4, a monumental and profoundly moving work for wind ensemble. Radiating both intensity and introspection, the symphony draws on hymn tunes and original material to create a sweeping emotional landscape. From moments of quiet reflection to overwhelming surges of sound, the music channels a sense of spiritual awakening—an urgent, almost primal expression of joy, struggle, and transformation. Maslanka’s voice is both deeply personal and universally resonant, inviting listeners into a space of contemplation, catharsis, and renewal.
Gina Gillie’s work for horn quartet and wind ensemble brings a striking contrast, placing the rich, noble sound of the horn at the forefront. The dialogue between the quartet and ensemble highlights both the instrument’s warmth and its heroic brilliance, creating a work that is at once intimate and expansive.
