With a sound both burnished and buoyant, the Piedmont Wind Symphony Brass Quintet returns for an evening that celebrates the enduring connection between artistry and community. Formed in 2011 in Winston-Salem’s historic Ardmore neighborhood, the ensemble—known locally as the Ardmore Brass Quintet—brings together five accomplished musicians whose collective experience spans orchestral, chamber, and jazz traditions. Their individual affiliations include the Piedmont Wind Symphony, Carolina Philharmonic, Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle, and other distinguished ensembles throughout the region and beyond.

This program offers a vibrant exploration of the brass quintet repertoire, blending brilliance, lyricism, and wit in equal measure. From stately fanfares to spirited arrangements, the ensemble’s playing reflects both technical refinement and an unmistakable sense of camaraderie—qualities that trace back to the group’s origins over shared conversation and a mutual appreciation for good beer.

Steve Sutton, Trumpet

Steve Sutton is the E-flat Soprano Cornet of the North Carolina Brass Band, Principal Trumpet of the Piedmont Wind Symphony, and Head Music Instructor of the Academy of Music and Arts of the Salvation Army. Steve received his Bachelor of Music degree in Trumpet performance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and his Master of Music degree in Trumpet Performance from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.

Luke Boudreault, Trumpet

A native of Graham, Luke Boudreault is the Principal Trumpet of both the Western Piedmont and Salisbury Symphonies, Assistant Principal Solo Cornet of the North Carolina Brass Band, Section Trumpet in the Piedmont Wind Symphony, and is a founding member of da Capo Brass Quintet. Additionally, he is a Delos recording artist, where the album, From the Beginning, premiered in the top ten of the Billboard Classical Albums Chart. He is a former finalist of the International Chamber Music Ensemble Competition and has performed solo recitals domestically and abroad, most recently presenting works for trumpet and organ at the Boardwalk Hall arena in Atlantic City, which houses the world’s largest organ. Boudreault is an advocate for newly composed music, having commissioned and premiered several published works for trumpet and/or brass ensemble by a variety of symphonic, film, and sacred music composers at new music festivals.

Benjamin Weber, Horn

Born and raised in Cape May, New Jersey, Benjamin Weber is now happy to call North Carolina home. Benjamin moved to Winston-Salem to study with David Jolley of the Orpheus Chamber Symphony at The North Carolina School of the Arts, where he received both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in horn performance. He now performs with ensembles across the state, including the Winston-Salem Symphony, the Greensboro Symphony, the North Carolina Brass Band, and Piedmont Wind Symphony. SSG Weber is also a veteran of the North Carolina Army National Guard's 440th Army Band. The unit is stationed in Raleigh and regularly performs for the public, the state government, and military functions. Benjamin graduated as the Distinguished Honor Graduate from the Army School of Music's Advanced Leader Course and toured internationally with the National Guard’s Mobile Training Unit.

Seth Frack, Trombone

Seth Frack is principal trombone of the Carolina Philharmonic, the North Carolina Brass Band, and is the lead trombone of the Camel City Jazz Orchestra. He holds both his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Trombone Performance from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts under James Miller. Seth enjoys a variety of music genres and continues to be an active classical and jazz performer throughout North Carolina.

Brent Harvey, Tuba

Raised in Apple Valley, Minnesota, Brent Harvey presently serves as Professor of Tuba-Euphonium and Music Theory at Winston-Salem State University and Adjunct Professor of Tuba-Euphonium at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Minnesota, and Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the University of North Carolina Greensboro. Brent has performed and recorded nationally and internationally as a soloist, as well as with the Minnesota Orchestra, Virginia Symphony Orchestra, Catania International Festival Orchestra, National Wind Ensemble, Fountain City Brass Band, North Carolina Brass Band, Ardmore Brass Quintet, among others. He has presented, adjudicated, and performed annually at Southeast and Northeast Regional Tuba-Euphonium Conferences, U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own” Tuba-Euphonium Workshops, and International Tuba-Euphonium Conferences in affiliation with the International Tuba-Euphonium Association (ITEA). His free time activities include traveling, sports, fantasy football, craft beer, Star Wars, and LEGO building!
