PWS x UNCSA Fellowship Program
Bridging the Gap Between Education and Professional Performance
In partnership with the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) and the Kenan Institute for the Arts, the PWS x UNCSA Fellowship Program provides emerging musicians with a unique opportunity to gain real-world professional performance experience alongside the Piedmont Wind Symphony.
This paid fellowship allows selected UNCSA students to participate in a full PWS season, rehearsing and performing side-by-side with professional musicians while experiencing the artistic and professional demands of a professional ensemble environment.
A Professional Performance Experience
Through this immersive fellowship, students expand their musical artistry while gaining invaluable insight into the professional music world. Fellows work closely with PWS musicians, guest artists, and conductors, receiving mentorship, artistic guidance, and hands-on experience that complements and enhances their academic training.
The program provides opportunities for fellows to:
-
Perform alongside professional musicians
-
Gain real-world ensemble and rehearsal experience
-
Receive mentorship and career guidance
-
Develop professional performance skills
-
Build artistic and professional connections
-
Experience the expectations of a professional music organization
The fellowship serves as an important bridge between conservatory training and the professional stage, helping prepare the next generation of performers for successful careers in music and the arts.
