Free Community Concert Series Returns with New Chamber Music Experience in Lewisville
Winston-Salem, NC — Piedmont Wind Symphony is proud to announce the return of its popular summer concert series, Piedmont Pops, featuring a dynamic lineup of free performances designed to bring communities together through live music. Under the direction of Artistic Director and Conductor Mark A. Norman, the 2026 season includes outdoor pops concerts, patriotic celebrations, family-friendly programming, and the launch of a new chamber music experience in Lewisville.
Each summer, Piedmont Pops welcomes more than 1,500 concert attendees across the region, offering accessible, engaging performances that celebrate the joy of music in welcoming community spaces.
This year’s series introduces a new chamber concert experience in Lewisville, expanding the Piedmont Pops tradition with intimate performances featuring smaller ensembles and innovative programming.
“Piedmont Pops is all about creating shared musical experiences that are welcoming, exciting, and accessible for everyone,” said Brianna Cantwell, Executive Director of Piedmont Wind Symphony. “This season allows us to continue building community through music while also introducing new ways for audiences to experience the artistry of our musicians.”

Band Together

The summer season begins with Band Together, a vibrant, family-friendly concert presented as part of the ASBDA Conference and Building Better Bands Workshop. Set in the heart of Downtown Winston-Salem, the program features iconic film scores, Broadway favorites, patriotic selections, and interactive audience moments in a festive outdoor atmosphere.

PWS Brass Quintet

As part of the new Lewisville chamber concert experience, the Piedmont Wind Symphony Brass Quintet brings the energy and excitement of Piedmont Pops into an intimate setting. Featuring bold fanfares, toe-tapping favorites, and familiar tunes reimagined for brass, this relaxed afternoon concert highlights the versatility and brilliance of five outstanding musicians.

America 250: Stars & Stripes at Sunset

The evening begins with a pre-concert performance by the Piedmont Wind Symphony Brass Quintet, followed by a full symphony performance featuring patriotic favorites, iconic American music, and high-energy pops selections that celebrate the nation’s history, culture, and enduring spirit.

Labor Day Weekend Celebration

Ragtime

Incendiary Brewing Lewisville
The new chamber series continues with Ragtime, featuring the Piedmont Wind Symphony American Music Ensemble in an engaging program celebrating the roots of American popular music. Performed by faculty and alumni of the UNC School of the Arts, the concert highlights the music of Scott Joplin, John Philip Sousa, and other iconic American composers through ragtime classics, marches, and Americana favorites.
All Piedmont Pops performances are free and open to the public.
